Tough and gritty in tannins, with a mouthfeel like you're chewing on sandpaper. Yet this Bordeaux blend is very rich in fruit, with a solid core of blackberries, black currants, anise and violets, sweetened with toast oak. Decant this classy Bordeaux Blend for a few hours before serving. 91 points, Wine Enthusiast October 2010
Firm, ripe, intense and concentrated, full-bodied and structured, with a complex mix of dark berry fruit, red and black licorice, cedar and spice, ending with a pleasant loamy earthiness. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2017. 1,770 cases made. 91 points, Wine Spectator Issue: Web Only - 2010
81% Cabernet Sauvignon; 12% Merlot; 6% Petit Verdot; 1% Cabernet Franc. Quite simply the deepest, best filled and most interesting wine of the Trinchero lot, this well-balanced effort exhibits a nice array of pepper and slightly sweet spice set atop its very solid varietal fruit. Supple in feel and firmed by carefully fit tannins, it shows a sense of refinement where its siblings do not, and it seems a sure bet to gain in beauty if cellared over the next five or six years. 89 points, Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine Volume 34 Issue 10: August 2010
The only wine from Trinchero with some tannin issues, and perhaps questionable balance among all of its elements, is the 2007 Meritage, a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. This wine is austere, but does exhibit some Medoc-like lead pencil notes intermixed with licorice, herbs, lavender, and red and black currants. The finish is pinched, but has good up-front complexity and the attack is sufficient. Drink it over the next decade. 86 points - The Wine Advocate # 186
