"R Wines is a new company founded by importer and marketing genius, Dan Philips, along with co-owner, renowned winemaker, Chris Ringland. Winemakers for R Wines are Chris Ringland, Lisa Wetherell, Andrew Hercock, and John Hughes. It encompasses four familiar labels, Marquis Philips, 3 Rings, Roogle, and Bitch, along with 13 others created especially for R Wines. Needless to say, the packaging of these wines is amazingly creative but, more importantly, what is in the bottle consistently over-delivers from low-end to high-end." Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, Issue 173
For fans of Chris Ringland's wildly popular 2006 Ebenezer Shiraz I have news both good and bad. The good: the 2007 vintage, sans the Ebenezer tag, is here; the bad: due to a slash in production, we were only able to procure fifty cases. True to its predecessors, the nose of this Aussie brims with dark berries, cedar, and licorice. Medium, oak tannins head the berries off up front in this ridiculously smooth wine. With such a limited run I suggest you pick up at least a case. Treat yourself. Treat your guests. Pop the cork on your holiday conversation with this wonderful vintage from Australia's Barossa Valley. 91 points. SDR |
