Light, deep red. Knockout nose of floral red berries, red cherry syrup, coffee and minerals. Then suave, silky and plump, with harmonious acidity giving life and definition to the raspberry, plum and delicate licorice flavors. Features wonderful sweetness and pliancy, and finishes subtle and sophisticated, with a light coffee note. Better and more varietally accurate than the excellent '07. 95 points By Ian D'Agata

Isole e Olena’s 2006 Cepparello (100% Sangiovese) reveals superb density and richness in a surprisingly medium-bodied style for this vintage. Candied red fruit, flowers, menthol and sweet herbs emerge from the glass with almost liqueur-like sweetness. The wine possesses outstanding balance and a long, sweet finish, with subtle notes of tar, licorice and herbs that make an appearance on the close. This is an elegant Cepparello that combines the ripeness of the vintage in a mid-weight, ethereal style. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019. 93 points, Antonio Galloni for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #184 (AUG 2009)
Offers rose and citrus fruit notes, with dried cherry and some earth character. Full-bodied, with soft, silky tannins and a fruity finish. Refined and racy, like a fine Brunello. Sangiovese. Best after 2010. 92 points, The Wine Spectator October 31, 2009 |
