"Tabarrini’s 2005 Sagrantino di Montefalco Colle Grimaldesco is a gem. This voluptuous wine flows from the glass with layers of blueberry jam, melted road tar, violets, grilled herbs, earthiness and sweet French oak. The firm tannins that are the hallmark of this quirky Umbrian variety are there, yet the wine has more than enough fruit to provide balance all the way through the long finish. Notes of liquefied minerals and crushed rocks linger on the long finish. This is a terrific effort from Tabarrini. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2020." 92 points - Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, Issue 182 |
