The 2005 Rosso de Veo is made from the estate’s youngest vineyards and/or in vintages which Bea doesn’t consider worthy of his top labels. This is a medium-bodied, Burgundian expression of Rosso (Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Sagrantino) that spent just one year in cask. The fruit tends towards wild blueberries and blackberries, intermingled with wild herbs, flowers, cassis and subtle notes of earthiness. This accessible, delicious Rosso is drinking beautifully today, and is an excellent choice for readers who want to explore Bea’s style without spending a fortune. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015. 90 points, Antonio Galloni for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #182 (APR 2009)
