"Big and bold, with tar, loam and bittersweet cocoa holding the upper hand for now on a core of black currant and plum fruit. Yet plenty of ripe, imbedded tannins and fine acidity to carry through until it resolves itself fully. Flashy, and pulls it off. Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2007 through 2014. 628 cases made." 93 points - Wine Spectator, September 30, 2006
"(an 80/20 blend of malbec and cabernet sauvignon) Deep, bright ruby. Superripe aromas of dark fruits and nutty oak; just this side of porty. Lush, sweet and chewy, with an almost exotic character to its smoky, nutty ripeness. A huge and impressive wine in a style verging on oxidative. Finishes with big, chewy, mouthclenching tannins. This was aged for 15 months in new French barriques following vinification in cement tank. Undeniably full and impressive, but not for everyone." 91 points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jan/Feb 08
