"Stunning Pinot Gris. Forward, complex aromas and flavors of violet, apricot, citrus and smoke, allied to a generous yet elegant structure, keeping everything focused through the long finish." 90 Points - Wine Spectator, October 15, 2000
"Musk-y, mineral-y aromas of ginger and orange peel. Juicy, bright and sharply delineated; already offers lovely inner-mouth aromatics. Flavors are nicely framed by firm acids. Very long finish features a touch of youthful harshness." 90-92 Points - Stephen Tanzer's, International Wine Cellar, Issue 85
"This red calcareous soil produced a very small crop of dry wine in 1998. The grapes were very healthy, and the wine shows all the classic apricot, quince flavors of the Rotenberg. The mouth is ample and rich, with strong toasty flavors (there is no oak). Even though the fermentation was lengthy, the wine kept some sweetness which is well hidden behind the massive body and the fine acidity." - Domaine Zind-Humbrecht |
